Literature Text

He could see their scars. It was just a matter of proximity. The closer he was, the more he could see. That bruise on the leg of the boy on the other side of the subway car was from a clumsy encounter with a swinging door. The faint scrape along the arm of the woman across from him was from her newly acquired black kitten. The cuts on the hip of the young woman beside him were hidden by her jeans, but as I said earlier, it was a matter of proximity. They were from a razor blade she had pried from the razor she used for shaving; he shied away from her as she crossed her arms, not wanting to feel what she had felt then. The only way to prevent this was to prevent physical contact.
This was his stop. He was halfway out the doors when he brushed arms with a stranger and felt the pain they felt as the teeth of their two-year-old sank into their big toe.
An idea I had bouncing around in my head today that, once I found a sharpened pencil, begged to be written down

Interesting concept and a great window into the character's mind.
